    Notes:

It is with profound sadness and a bitter-sweet joy that we see our dear Wife, Mother and Grandmother, Wanda Faye Barton Sánchez, let loose her mortal coil and ascend to her place beside the Lord in his Heavenly Kingdom. Nearly two years ago, Wanda had been diagnosed with Glioblastoma Malforma brain cancer and given a prognosis of one-year remaining on this earth. True to her spirit, Wanda saw fit to work day and night to prove that the Lord is the only one who can call her home, and extended her time with us until her peaceful passing in her Georgetown, GA home on the morning of November 14. Born on May 26, 1950 in to Maxine Willa West and William Wiley Barton in Dillon, North Carolina - the middle child of nine - she is survived by her husband, Leon Sánchez; four children, Tracey, Phillip, Jon and Amy; three brothers, Dan, Michael and Brian Barton and eleven grandchildren, Jeffrey,Joshua and Justin Blackmon; Carissa, Phillip Lee Jr, Liam and Eli Gabriel Sánchez; Bailey Corinne Sutliff, Hayden Sutliff and Kyra Miller, Brooklyn Sánchez.

For those that knew Wanda, they knew a woman who was ever-giving of herself unto others. From her life and career as a nurses aide and caretaker of the elderly through to her life-calling as a mother to her children and anyone who needed love and affection. Wanda extended her home and heart to all who would accept it and had an uncanny way of making anyone feel at home, no matter who or where. She spent her time basking in love and conversations with family and friends, playing Pogo games, solitaire and weekly family game nights. She made sure everyone within earshot was well-fed and never went home hungry. For as long as she was physically able, she was very active in her church at the First Baptist Church of Eufaula, AL and felt great comfort and joy being a part of such a loving community. She gathered strength and comfort, even in her most harrowing of days, through her faith in God and the support of her family, friends and community.

Above all, she was most proud of her accomplishments of raising a family with very strong values and a bond that would endure through the ages. She and Leon would create the foundations of a family who values, supports and cherishes each other and would go on to raise their own families under the same tenets. She taught that it is not the material substances or fleeting moments that make life important, but that we are all bound to each other through how we respect and love each other; that happiness comes from within and through these bonds with others. It was through this understanding and daily practice that she remains the beacon of comfort for so many who would come to know her as ``Mom.´´

Wanda was a Lighthouse in the dark to many people, and used this gift to help bring solace and comfort to anyone within the reach of her warm glow. "She left a ray of Sunshine in every soul she touched."
